Dear Students and Parents,

It is hard to believe summer vacation has already come to an end but we are entering one of my favorite times of the year! There is nothing quite as exciting as a new school year. The excitement of a new beginning and possibilities shine in the eyes of students ready to tackle a new school year. After the initial duldrums of waking up early pass students and teachers alike find a new replenished enthusiastic energy to tackle new responsibilities head on.

I am blessed to have taught many of my upcoming fifth graders two years ago in the third grade. Having taught them I remember many of the learning styles that make them unique from one another. Each student must learn the required 5th grade common core standards but will do it differently at a different pace. In my several years teaching 5th grade (initially in the late 1990's) I have taught fifth graders still learning how to read at a first grade level and those 5th graders who could probably pass an into college class easily. W I have taught 5th graders
